Tomball German Heritage Festival

TomballEvery year on the last weekend of March, Tomball celebrates its German heritage with live music, authentic German food and beer, and dancing to live, open-air German music concerts at the Tomball German Heritage Festival. One popular headlining act, Alpenfest, is much more than an Oompah band. The self-titled, “busiest German Band in Texas,” Alpenfest has performed at festivals across the United States, Germany, and Austria. The band’s instrumentation includes four 13-foot Swiss Alphorns, a tuned set of Austrian cowbells, a German xylophone, tuned musical handsaws, and yodeling vocalists. Audience participation is an important part of the Alpenfest show, with singing, dancing, and performing songs with the band.

There are open-air market of arts and crafts, antiques, unique gift items, and German-themed mementos. Activities and vendors are centered at the corner of Cherry Street and Main Street in downtown Tomball. Individual shops in Tomball’s downtown antique district also stage German heritage festivities. This fun annual event is sponsored by the Tomball Sister City Organization.
